Career Summary:
Steve Bloomer (20th January 1874 - 16th April 1938) was an international footballer who represented England 23 times scoring 28 goals. His first cap was against Ireland on 9th March 1895 at 21 years old, and his last was vs Scotland on 6th April 1907 aged 33. Bloomer, born on 20th January 1874, in Cradley, Worcestershire, has a FA Legacy Number of 221 and played as a Centre Forward and Inside Right for his country.

Bloomer was the most prolific scorer of the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. He managed to net 352 times in 598 appearances for his two club teams Derby and Middlesbrough. He also scored 28 England goals in 23 caps, most of them coming in the early part of his England career which stretched over a then record breaking twelve years. He scored at least once in each of his first ten internationals and 25 in his first 14 games.
After his playing career was over he moved to Germany to take up a coaching position but was interned into a World War One prisoner of war camp where he spent most of the war. He died in Derby in April 1938.
His daughter Hettie married another England International Alf Quantrill.
