William Dean started his professional career at Tranmere Rovers where he socred 27 goals in just 30 appearances. He transferred to Everton in 1925. He set a record (still to be broken) of 60 goals in a season (1927-28) and won the league championship twice with Everton. His overall club goalscoring record is 390 goals in 447 appearances. He also managed 18 goals in his 16 England caps. Sadly, due to the FAs withdrawal from FIFA he never played any other games save friendlies and Home Championships.
He died at Goodison Park whilst watching a derby game against Liverpool.
