  • Charles John Chenery was born in Berkshire but had an affinity to Victoria, Australia all his life, his parents - although English - were married there. During 1859/60 the family returned to Mansfield, Victoria where two of his siblings were born. Five or so years later he is back in England attending Marlborough Grammar School. He represented Crystal Palace (Amateurs), Barnes and Wanderers who he was the secretary for in 1871. He appeared in an Alcock International in 1872 and played twelve times for Surrey at cricket (1872-73). He emigrated back to Australia in 1878 where he married.
