Notes

  • World Cup warm-up friendlyEngland went on a two match tour of Colombia and Ecuador to acclimitise themselves to the heat and altitude prior to the 1970 World Cup.
  • Shirt NumbersDirectly prior to this match an England B selection beat a Liga Deportiva Universidad side 4-1. The full touring party totalled 28 players who had squad numbers different from the final World Cup 1970 squad numbers hence the reson why the shirt numbers worn in this match look very odd. Six of those players returned home after this match.
  • SubstitutionsA lot of sources seem to suggest that Carerra was replaced at half-time but the TV pictures clearly shows him, at least, playing the first part of the second half.
  • Player MilestoneBrian Kidd's Last Cap
  • Goal MilestoneBrian Kidd's 1st Goal
