Mexico

Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación
Founded: 1927
Federation: CONCACAF
- Mexico first played international football in 1923 beating Guatemala 3-2. Mexico are the most successful North American side with ten CONCACAF Gold Cup wins. They have also qualified for every World Cup since 1950 apart from 1974, 1982 and 1990 (they were banned from all international competition in 1988 for two years for illegally playing overage players in a youth tournament). They have also hosted the World Cup twice (1970 & 1986).
England's first game against Mexico was a surprise 2-1 defeat in the high altitute and heat of Mexico City in 1959. Two years later they made amends by winning 8-0 at Wembley (Mexico's worst result to date). England have won the last four encounters with an aggregate of 12-1.
