Assist: Stuart Pearce. "Lineker had put England ahead after 15 minutes, running in late to meet a prodigious free-kick from Pearce and glancing the ball past Goycochea."

Assist: Stuart Pearce. A chipped cross from Pearce from the left finds an unmarked Platt driving in from the centre. He leaps and nods the ball past Goycochea's left hand into the bottom left of the net. "England's second goal, which was Platt's third in two matches, was another of his impressive headers, after [a] centre from Pearce..."David Platt7th of 27 goals. Header from 11 yards., 52' 51:24

Notes
Tournament InfoEngland win the Challenge Cup. The other match ended Argentina 1 USSR 1.
Streaker causes havocA pitch invader entered the field in the 83rd minute, which in itself did little but, the subsequent drop ball on the resumption was very contentious. The referee stopped play with the ball on the edge of the Argentine area which the visitors took exception to, jostling the referee, with captain Ruggeri at the fore. At one point he snatched the ball and placed it down as if he were suggesting it was a free kick for his side. Shades of Rattin 25 years before! The Yugoslavian referee refused to get any cards out of his pocket and got play underway without any further incident.
