- Peru's first match was a 4-0 loss against Uruguay in 1927. They have won the Copa America twice (1939 & 1975) and have reached the quarter final of the World Cup in 1970.
Their first meeting with England in Lima in 1959 was 4-1 drubbing and a hat-trick for Juan Seminario. Jimmy Greaves scored a consolation on his debut. The second meeting was three years later at the same stadium and the result was totally different. This time Greaves had a hat-trick and Bobby Moore had a first cap. 52 years passed before the next meeting; a 3-0 England win at Wembley in a friendly prior to the 2014 World Cup.
