Notes:
The Royal Dutch Football Association was founded on 8th December 1889. Their first international was a 4-1 win against Belgium in Antwerp on 30th April 1905. Their first encounter with England was a 1-0 loss in Amsterdam in 1935. Despite their emergence as a world force in International football with their "totaalvoetbal" (Total Football) in the late 60s and 70s they have yet to win the World Cup despite two final appearances in the 70s and another in 2010. They did, however, conquer the European Championship in 1988. Marco van Basten scored a memorable hat-trick against England during the group stages. England got their revenge 8 years later when they beat the Netherlands 4-1 during the group stage of Euro '96. Since then the Three Lions have only beaten the 'Oranje' once in nine attempts.
