Notes

  • Goal DisallowedFrank Rijkaard had a goal disallowed on 41 minutes for offside which TV replays suggest wasn't.
  • Match ControversyOn 57 minutes, David Platt is pulled down by Dutch captain Ronald Keoman on the edge of the box. The referee originally was going to award a penalty but was correctly over-ruled by his linesman, initial contact being just outside the box. The referee only gives Keoman a yellow card despite being the last defender. Dorigo's free kick is charged down by Wouters who is clearly no more than 6 yards away when the free kick is taken. Minutes later Netherlands were awarded a free kick in an almost identical place which Koeman took - after a re-take for, ironically, encroachment by Paul Ince - and scored.
