- Played for Upton Park, Corinthians, Leyton & Essex FA. He served on the FA Committee from 1877 to 1882 and refereed the 1878 FA cup final, two internationals against Wales (1879 & 1881) and was umpire for the Welsh game in 1880 (It is not recorded if the crowd chanted his name!) A successful solicitor's occupation allowed him to indulge in horseracing during later life. In fact he died of a heart attack at Epsom Station after a day at the races. Many publications list his name as Segal but his name was recorded in official documents (marriage & death certificates) as Segar.
