Notes:
The Latvian men's national football team played its first official match in 1922, a 1-1 draw against Estonia. The team quickly established itself in the Baltic region by winning the inaugural Baltic Cup in 1928 and accumulating 12 titles before World War II. During the 1930s, Latvia competed in the qualifiers for the 1938 FIFA World Cup and achieved notable victories but narrowly missed the tournament due to political factors. The team ceased to exist during Soviet occupation from 1940 until Latvia regained independence in 1991.
After independence, the Latvian national team was rebuilt from scratch. The team achieved its greatest success by qualifying for UEFA Euro 2004, the only major tournament they've participated in so far, marking a historic milestone as the first and only Baltic team to reach the European Championship. They won a playoff against Turkey to secure their spot, earning a draw against Germany and scoring against the Czech Republic during the tournament. Since then, Latvia has not qualified for another major competition but has remained competitive in regional tournaments like the Baltic Cup, which they have won a record 13 times. Home matches are mainly played at Skonto Stadium in Riga.
