  • Whitehead joined Accrington FC in 1890 where he scored 23 goals from 73 appearances. He transferred to Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 1893 who paid a princely sum of £100 for his services. Accrington used the money to wipe out most of their debt. He joined Manchester City for the 1897/98 season but only made 24 appearances before going back to Accrington, this time with Accrington Stanley, after the original Accrington FC had folded. He died in 1929.
