Costa Rica's first match was against fellow Central American's El Salvador in 1921; They won 7-0. They have appeared in the World Cup four times and their best result was the quarter-final in 2014 where they were knocked out by Netherlands on penalties. England played Coast Rica in the last group game of that tournament. It ended 0-0.
They have won the CONCACAF Championship on three occasions the last being 1989.
