Real Federación Española de Fútbol
Founded: 1913
Federation: UEFA
- Spain joined the international community with their first international against Denmark during the 1920 Olympics held in Brussels. They won 2-1 but then lost the quarter-final to their hosts three days later.
Spain kicked-off their matches with England with and impressive 4-3 win in Madrid. However, they were hammered 7-1 when the invitation was reversed two years later.
Spain are the only victims of an English penalty shoot-out win. The quarter-final of Euro '96 at Wembley went to penalties as both teams played out a 0-0 draw.
David Seaman was the hero as he saved Spain's last kick taken by Miguel Angel Nadal (the uncle of an even more famous Spanish tennis player.)
