Cursham played 21 first class matches for Nottinghamshire debuting in 1876 and then for Derbyshire where he played his last match in 1880. Football-wise he turned out for Notts County between 1876 and 1883. By trade he was a colliery proprietor. He emigrated to Florida in 1884 but didn't see out the year, dying of yellow fever.
