Cuthbert Ottaway (19th July 1850 - 2nd April 1878) was an international footballer who represented England 2 times scoring 0 goals. His first cap was against Scotland on 30th November 1872 at 22 years old, and his last was vs Scotland on 7th March 1874 aged 23. Ottaway, born on 19th July 1850, in Dover, Kent, has a FA Legacy Number of 9 and played as a Forward for his country.

Ottaway was a sporting all-rounder having kept wicket for Kent & Middlesex, represented Oxford University at rackets, real tennis and athletics. He was part of the Oxford University team that won the FA Cup in 1874. He also played for the Old Etonians and Crystal Palace. CW Alcock noted in his football annual in 1874 that Ottaway was 'an excellent forward, being fast and very skilful in pilotting the ball'. He was on the FA Committee during 1872-73. A barrister by profession and tragically died at 27 after 'a rapid decline brought on by a cold' whilst he was, apparently, 'at a dance'.
