Reginald Welch (20th June 1851 - 4th June 1939) was an international footballer who represented England 2 times scoring 0 goals. His first cap was against Scotland on 30th November 1872 at 21 years old, and his last was vs Scotland on 7th March 1874 aged 22. Welch went to Harrow School and consequently played for the old boy's team, Harrow Chequers where he earned his first England cap as a full back in 1872. He was mostly known for his goalkeeping skills and tendered the net in two FA Cup finals for the Wanderers (1872 & 1873) before gaining his second England cap, this time in his more accustomed position of 'keeper in 1874. He would later serve on the FA Committee (1873-75 & 1879-80). He also excelled at cricket and skiing. He became Principal of the Army College in Farnham where he stayed until his death. He is occasionally noted as 'De Courtenay' on some records.
