John Owen (25th May 1848 - 13th June 1921) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 0 goals. His only cap was against Scotland on 7th March 1874 at the age of 25. Owen, born on 25th May 1848, in St Leonards, Buckinghamshire, has a FA Legacy Number of 27 and played as a Forward for his country.

John Owen was born at St Leonards in Buckinghamshire where his father was Reverend. He went to study at Queen's College, Oxford and played for Sheffield Club, Sheffield Association, Nottinghamshire, Essex and Maldon FC. He spent most of his career as an academic being master of Trent College, Hawkshead Grammer School and then back to Trent College this time as headmaster until 1890. Ordained in 1876 and was vicar of Toftrees, Norfolk from 1890-1905 and Rector of Bradwell-on-Sea from 1905 until his death. He died of complications following surgery at a London hospital.
