  • Les Bleus played their first international game against Belgium in a 3-3 draw in Brussels in 1904. Their early record was hardly inspiring, however: during the Olympics Games in London 1908 they lost 17-1 to Denmark. They lifted their first trophy, during the European Championship of 1984 on home soil. They bettered that when they took the double crown of World Cup winners in 1998 and European Champions in 2000. Their first game against England was in 1923 where they lost 4-1. In recent matches England have not prevailed since the 1-0 win during the Tournoi de France in 1997.
